OUTDOOR TRAINING

When it comes to exercise, there are countless ways to get active and improve your fitness. One option that is gaining popularity is outdoor training. Whether you're a seasoned athlete or just starting out on your fitness journey, outdoor training offers a range of benefits that can help you achieve your goals. In this blog post, we'll explore 5 reasons why outdoor training is the ultimate workout experience.

1. Fresh air and natural surroundings

One of the most obvious benefits of outdoor training is the opportunity to breathe in fresh air and enjoy natural surroundings. Unlike working out in a stuffy gym, outdoor training allows you to get some sunshine and fresh air while you exercise. This can help boost your mood, reduce stress levels, and provide a refreshing change of pace from your usual routine.

2. Variety of terrain

Another advantage of outdoor training is the variety of terrain you can explore. Whether you prefer hiking trails, beach runs, or urban parks, there's no shortage of options when it comes to outdoor workouts. This can help keep your workouts interesting and challenging, and also provide opportunities to work different muscle groups and improve your balance and coordination.

3. Increased vitamin D

When you exercise outdoors, you also increase your exposure to vitamin D. This essential nutrient is produced by the body when the skin is exposed to sunlight, and is crucial for bone health, immune function, and mood regulation. By getting outside and exercising in natural light, you can help ensure you're getting enough vitamin D to support your overall health.

4. Cost-effective

Outdoor training is also a cost-effective alternative to traditional gym memberships or pricey fitness classes. With outdoor training, you can take advantage of free or low-cost resources like public parks, community trails, or local beaches. This can help you save money on fitness expenses and still get a great workout in.

5. Community and social connection

Finally, outdoor training provides opportunities for community and social connection. Whether you join a local running club, attend a yoga class in the park, or simply strike up a conversation with a fellow hiker, outdoor training can help you connect with like-minded individuals who share your passion for fitness and wellness.

Now we all had to deal with covid locking us indoors and one thing I noticed in Sydney was the shift from gyms (due to closure) to people picking up outdoor exercise activities.

It was the most amount of runners i've ever seen out and about. Somehow even with the gyms reopening there continued to be this trend of people staying out and about keeping fit outdoors.

I loved it, it forced me to become strategic, creative and adventurous with my programming and training. Prior to this experience my training was pretty rigid however this amplified my training before and after the lockdown.

Since then i've adopted a pretty mixed training style both in the gym and outdoors and have not looked back since!

Yes it was a challenge for me to break the barrier as my training was either sport specific or weight lifting based but being forced to make that change allowed me to surpass new boundaries and learn more about my body than I had in years!!

For those that haven't tried some form of outdoor training, I highly recommend it, for those that don't know where to start message me on @dynamicrecov on instagram/facebook and ill be sure to hit you with some tips!!

Outdoor training offers a range of benefits that can help you improve your fitness, boost your mood, and connect with a like-minded community. Whether you're looking to explore new terrain, save money on fitness expenses, or simply enjoy the fresh air and natural surroundings, there are countless reasons to try outdoor training. So why not step outside and see what all the fuss is about?
